Skool? Skool!!

I present to you for your groaning pleasure, the most over requested song for the 1st day of skool.

That's right boys and girls, in my tiny little hamlet (population 27K), today is the first day of skool, and as such, we are both jumping for joy and preparing for another six months of aggravation.

Jumping for joy 'cause youngest child,

is returning to skool (8th grade), six months of aggravation 'cause now I have to make sure my buttocks are out of the house at exactly 7:30a so that I can drop off said child at the bus stop, which this year is supposedly arriving a few minutes earlier than last year. And not only do I have to make sure my buttocks are out of the house at exactly 7:30a, but now I have to spend at least a couple of weeks memorizing not only the morning bus routes for the south end of Hartford ('cause that's where I works) but the evening bus routes for the south end of Hartford ('cause that's how I escape to home).

I tell ya, one more year of junior high, then the mud really hits fan when next year she becomes a...........FRESHMAN?!

Oh the agony!

  1. Tell me about it, I have one more week before I'm back on the school run. But my eldest daughter leaves for uni in 3 weeks, so time moves fast and before you know it they are leaving home!

  2. She looks so thrilled!
Yeah, you want to avoid getting behind a school bus first thing in the morning.
And if that's the most requested song for the day back, School's Out by Alice Cooper must be the most requested for the last day.

  3. Treat her nice and some day she'll visit you in the nursing home!

  4. Joe: My eldest decided that he had enough of dead end jobs, so he's going to a technical school to learn a trade, for which I am very proud of him.

As for the daughter, it's adventure time!

I'm sure you'll find a way to keep the home fire burning for your eldest. :D

Alex: In my youth, both those songs were absolutes for starting and ending skool.

I'm fortunate that I know enough back roads/side streets to avoid 99% of the skool buses this year.

    Debra: So very very true....:D

What a beautiful child. You best hire a bodyguard to follow her around.

  6. The joys of parenthood! ☺
School starts the Tuesday after Labour Day here and one can sense the collective sigh of relief from all the parents. Don't you love that Staples commercial, advertising the "Back to School" sale, set to the tune of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"? Your daughter is lovely, G.b.

  7. Debbie:

    Thanks. :D

Here it seems that school is starting earlier and earlier. I know in some parts of the States, school starts in mid-August.

Back to school specials started kicking in somewhere in early July. Ugh.

  9. M: It is. It will take her a little while to get used to it again.

  10. Look at those big brown eyes! My goodness. Well, I don't envy her going into Grade 8. It's a tough time to be a kid. Best of luck to the both of you.

  11. S.R.: Thanks.

I have to get her to do an updated selfie as that one is about a year old.
