The Beauty That Is Summer

This past Saturday, I went to the Rockwell Park in Bristol, CT for combination b'day party for my nephews (the oldest couldn't come because he had to work). The park itself is located behind and next to Muzzy Field (the first home of the New Britain Rock Cats).

I actually had a great time that day (a rarity for me at family get togethers) as I took pics and videos (although my computer ate up the five videos I had uploaded, but strangely enough, not the pics). I did do some adult supervision because my daughter and her friends wanted to use the pool (total cost, $1 and I got in for free 'cause I wasn't swimming), but I had fun just the same.

We got to eat some dead animals:

I got to watch the little kiddies beat up on a homemade piñata (my younger nephew is into Mickey Mouse now):

And watched my nephew directing traffic (he has some form of autism, but he's making giant strides/progress, especially during his party) for the piñata:

Yes, the beauty that is summer is a very good thing, 'cause we all need to decompress from time to time.

  1. Sounds like a fun time. Did you take a swing at the pinata?

  2. Looks and sounds like it was a lot of fun. I do think I might have a little trouble hitting Mickey Mouse with a big stick. However candy as an outcome? Yeah I could do it.

  3. You're being very generous calling those wieners "dead animals," aren't you? I thought they're supposed to be largely made of sawdust and rat droppings. But who cares? I love a good hot dog every now and again too!

  5. Alex: I had quite a bit of fun actually. I'm usually anti-social at family get togethers, but this was a little different for a change. And no, I did not take a swing at the piñata. With my hands, I probably would've missed. :D

G.A.: It took about two dozen whacks from all the kids to break it open for that blessed sugar rush. :D

Debra: Yeah, well, ya know. :D

The steak actually came out very good for a change. :D

M: I was very impressed that they were charging only a dollar. That park seems to be the main attraction there in Bristol and it was well worth the drive.

  7. Whoever made the piñata deserves a gold star. It's very good for homemade!

  8. Bearman: Thanks. Definitely one of the better b-day parties I've been to.

S.R.: My brother did it, and he did a bang up job of it.
