Got Those Employment Blues

Got those old employment blues today. Employment blues are different than unemployment blues because basically, you're employed and you got the blues 'cause you ain't making enough dollars to pay the bills.

So.

I thought for today, I would share with everyone a few of my favorite unemployment/employment songs. Take each one for what it's worth, and have a happy Friday.

  1. May you win the lottery! (Right after I do, of course).

  2. How about Bang the Drum All Day? Another good one - they used to play a 5 o'clock whistle on 96 Rock (now defunct) in Atlanta on Fridays and it included that Huey Lewis song and the Todd Rundgren song mentioned above. It was a great composite of songs, etc.

  3. Debra: I've been gunning for it. If I win, I'll send a donation to your favorite charity...after you of course. :D

Lynn: That one used to be so overkilled that I think to this day I still block it out. :D

On WCCC (now an Adult Christian rock station), they used to play "Life Sucks, Then You Die" by the Fools on Monday mornings, and "Friday On My Mind" by The Easybeats.

  4. Some people say a man is made out of mud.
A poor man's made of out of muscle and blood.
Muscle and blood and skin and bone!
    A mind that's weak and a back that's strong.
You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt.
St. Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go.
I owe my soul to the company stooooooore.

  5. No more raises for the retired (unless stocks soar) but no more performance appraisals either. Also no more dreams of being a "wheel" someday. Just enjoying life.

  6. G.A.: In my world, raises for the retirees are non-existent. And you can always dream of being a "wheel" in what you desire to do. :D

    M: Gonna try.
