Labor Day.
Take two.
Got bored on Labor Day 'cause you know, I gets bored on a holiday. Went for a bike ride around town. With video camera. Took photos like this:
Then rode around a little more and took photos like this:
Rode around a little more, one handed yet, and took photos like this:
Then rode around a tiny bit more, and took bad videos like this:
The Dullest Video Ever Filmed!
My very first publicly posted YouTube video. This is what happens when you're bored and have no idea on what topic to write about. I have 3 other excruciatingly dull videos that I will upload for you-know-what and giggles that I had shot during my Labor Day bike ride.
Happiness is creativity in action!

You certainly sent those ducks running!
ReplyDeleteYuppers. You should see some of the closeups I'd gotten of them. Was able to get within three feet of them.
DeleteLOL! That grass shot toward the end of the video was exciting! We were walking in Victoria, BC this morning. Two men were sitting by a pond in Beacon Hill Park, and they pulled out some bread crusts to feed the ducks. They were literally swarmed by dozens and dozens of ducks who came swimming frantically from all directions. Too funny! Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm getting better at my wayward shots. Your little story reminded of last winter at work. It was a snowy day and I decided to get rid of a suet cake at work by giving it to the birds. Threw it out and within seconds, the thing was attacked by dozens of birds.
DeleteDucks and geese can be exciting to watch at times.
ReplyDeleteThey can be at that. The can also put you to sleep sometimes. A animal white noise, so to speak.
DeleteThere is always peace in gazing at ducks and geese, I think. A nice holiday, sounds like.
ReplyDeleteIt actually was, for a change. I really had an enjoyable time bike riding around the park for about a half hour or so.
DeleteI see boredom as the springboard for creative endeavour. :-) Good post.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
Sometimes, that is very very true. :D
DeleteThe geese around here are like gang members. They block the path, and if you try to walk past them they squawk at you and lunge at you. Last time I went jogging, I passed a group of them, looked over my shoulder, and one of them was waddling after me aggressively with his wings raised.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you think that's the dullest video on the Internet, you haven't been around YouTube. That's a damn masterpiece compared to some of the garbage they have floating around there.
We have a ginormous gaggle of geese that shitbombs everything within a three mile radius of the park. Exceptionally unsanitary and extremely nasty.
DeleteI know of a video that some made of paint drying on a wall, so yeah, it's not quite the dullest, but it's great white noise.
Oh and, to upload a 40 second video took roughly 20 minutes from start to finish.
Aw, I like ducks. I like how they quack amongst themselves as they waddle along. That looks like a very nice bike ride.
ReplyDeleteWe have a plethora of ducks at Mill Pond park, and they're a blast to watch. And it was a very nice bike ride. The pond has a 3/4 to a mile long path along the shore that is great for walking/bike riding
DeleteMaking a video can be a lot of fun. It's kind of nice and pastoral in this clip--not necessarily boring.

Thanks. I think in today's world, pastoral is passé. so even though it's a nice quite video, a lot of people would think not.
DeleteI hope not! I find a pastoral experience to be wonderfully meditative and restorative. Too many people today have become overly impatient with waiting, thinking, or reading, watching, or listening to anything that isn't fast moving to a wrapped up conclusion. Much of life has no plot and is merely a visual to be appreciated.

I do agree with you on that aspect. I enjoy sitting outside and simply taking in the surroundings of my neighborhood and the mountain. Same goes when I'm bike riding, especially at the park.
DeleteWildlife is always amusing to me!
ReplyDeleteYou should see some of the wildlife here. They'll put you into stiches.
