IWSG Post #9!

IWSG
Number 9.......

The first Wednesday of the month is set aside for insecure writers across the blog-o-sphere to share all of our individual experiences, the gud, the baaaaaad and the plug ugly.

Today we're gonna talk about the gud, specifically, my latest novella, which is currently available as a pre-order at B&N and Kobo (alledgely at IBooks, but can't find the link), and available at Smashwords in all formats on May 13th.

B&N/Kobo
I'm pretty proud about the fact that this novella, which has taken roughly 6 years to get to this point, is now out. It's been a very long journey for me with my writing, as I've always had a problem in sticking with something. This, however, is something I truly feel passionate about, so it's something that I'm going to stick with until the bitter end.

Until then, let me share you a little story about my latest adventures with Facebook as it applies to this novella.

This past weekend (May 2nd thru May 4th), I ran a promo on my author's page for this book. I reached about 7K+, had about 300+ engagements, four new page likes and almost 3 dozen photo likes. But I almost didn't get there. I initially attempted to set the promo up on Friday, but was having a major problem in getting it approved. No matter what I did, including moaning about it on their community forum, got it out of the queue. On the 4th try, when I clicked on the "boost post" button, I finally got a message telling me exactly what content needed to be fixed.

What they frown upon (which is kind of strange, considering the double standard they have) is profanity and character assassination. So I changed exactly two words and presto! it got approved.

My good friends, here is the new version of the blurb, which is what you'll see when you go on Smashwords and what you'll see when the print version comes out.

"Nikia, a demonic spirit escapee from Purgatory now residing above ground, is being blackmailed by Kevin to turn Keisha, the girl of his obsession, into the hottest toy of any male or female's wanton desires, so that he can ride to her rescue and make her beholden to him. A distress call sent out by Nikia's eldest prompts two archangels, Michael and Raphael, to answer the call. But can they arrive in time to save Nikia and Keisha from Kevin's lustful machinations? More importantly though, can a supreme demonic hellion from the bowels of Purgatory really turn her life around and do the right thing?"

So at least for this month, there is no insecurity to write about, only the satisfaction of accomplishing another tangible writing goal for myself.

Did you accomplish another tangible writing goal for yourself this month?

  2. Congratulations on the accomplishment! I haven't done any FB advertising. I'm very hesitant about it because deep down I think FB is evil haha
My great accomplishment last month was just surviving April A-Z :)

      And thanks.

    2. Thanks.

I checked out your blog, and while it's a very nice fashionista blog, I don't think that kind of blog would work for me. Sorry, but after 8 years of blogging, I have a tendency to be somewhat picky about the kind of blogs that I choose to follow.

I will completely understand if you choose to unfollow my blog and I wish you the best of luck in your fashion career.

These days, the written word is to die for, so please leave a comment that shows me and everyone else the real you. All kinds of verbiage will be cheerfully accepted in the spirit it was written.
